PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between JohnAmund Skaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otto Emperor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Skaar might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Number of the Beast. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emperor throws a body punch but Skaar moves out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Skaar.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Skaar looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Emperor is avoiding damage well.
Emperor is looking for a sweep.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Emperor has eaten all the pies!
Skaar lands a nice forearm strike.
Emperor tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Skaar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Emperor is being controlled here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skaar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Emperor keeps working.
Skaar is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Emperor is trying to control Skaar's posture but Skaar avoids it.

Emperor is looking to reverse the position.
Emperor sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Skaar looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Emperor with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Emperor is looking for a sweep. Skaar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Skaar working Emperor over with strikes.
Skaar landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Emperor moves into full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Skaar throws a big right hand that misses.
Skaar loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Skaar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Emperor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Skaar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Skaar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Skaar is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Emperor trying to control the position.
Skaar with a flurry of punches that miss.
Skaar throwing strikes but missing.
Skaar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Emperor works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Skaar throws and elbow that misses. Emperor uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Skaar's guard. Nice move by Emperor!
Emperor pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Skaar is keeping the position for now.

Skaar keeping moving, preventing Emperor from controlling successfully.
Emperor tries to free his leg and advance position but Skaar is retaining full guard.
Emperor stands and throws Skaar's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Skaar regains half guard there - taking advantage of Emperor's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Emperor wants to pass to mount but Skaar is defending the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Emperor is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Skaar doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Emperor.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JohnAmund Skaar dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Emperor gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Emperor manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
JohnAmund Skaar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Emperor goes for an armbar but Skaar turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Skaar.

Skaar wants to control from the top but Emperor keeps moving.
Emperor wants to sweep here but Skaar controlling him for the moment.

Emperor is looking to sinch up a triangle. Skaar throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Emperor's body to avoid the submission. Emperor has instead reached around Skaar's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Emperor arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
