Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tank Abrahms (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Bonzarino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tank Abrahms!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Bonzarino!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonzarino looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
No joy there for Abrahms, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bonzarino on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Abrahms shoots in for a double leg but Bonzarino sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Abrahms shoots in and drives through. Bonzarino sprawls well.
Bonzarino misses with a wild body shot.
Bonzarino tries to bum rush Abrahms with a series of wild strikes but Abrahms uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bonzarino cracks Abrahms with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Abrahms shoots in but Bonzarino avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Abrahms lands a good knee to the midsection. Bonzarino won't want to take too many of those.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Abrahms pulls Bonzarino in close to his closed guard and prevents Bonzarino from doing any damage or advancing position.
Bonzarino won't allow Abrahms to sweep him here.
Bonzarino must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Abrahms bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bonzarino's guard.

Abrahms has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Abrahms lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bonzarino circles away quickly and effectively.

Abrahms shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Abrahms showed some decent athleticism there.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Abrahms looks to land a left hand but Bonzarino moved out of range nicely.
Bonzarino shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Abrahms eats them both and turns towards Bonzarino to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Abrahms tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bonzarino swivels and escapes.

Abrahms shoots for a takedown but Bonzarino saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Bonzarino is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Abrahms prevents Bonzarino from escaping the position.
Abrahms is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bonzarino's shoulder. That is not cool.
Abrahms scores with a couple of short elbows.
Abrahms is working Bonzarino over with some ground and pound from side control.
Abrahms just content to control the position.
Tank Abrahms overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Abrahms is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Abrahms decides to stand back up.
Abrahms changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bonzarino tries to avoid it but Abrahms manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bonzarino to the ground. Bonzarino escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Abrahms takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Bonzarino tries to bum rush Abrahms with a series of wild strikes but Abrahms uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Abrahms dives in and grabs Bonzarino's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bonzarino pushes down on Abrahms's head and hops out.

Bonzarino lands a glancing blow to the side of Abrahms's head.

Abrahms shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bonzarino as he avoids it easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bonzarino enables Abrahms to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bonzarino manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abrahms prevents Bonzarino from getting back to his feet.
Bonzarino really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abrahms. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Abrahms shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bonzarino pinned against the cage. Bonzarino gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Abrahms, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
