Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Heilman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Koji Sukaka!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sukaka fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Heilman sprawls well initially but Sukaka persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Sukaka drops back looking for a leg! Heilman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Heilman manages to kick Sukaka off! Sukaka jumps back into Heilman's guard.

Sukaka seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Heilman is holding on tight.

Sukaka trying to keep a closed guard but Heilman is proving a slippery customer.

Heilman drops back looking for a leg! Sukaka is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sukaka manages to kick Heilman off! Heilman jumps back into Sukaka's guard.

Heilman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sukaka's guard.

Heilman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Heilman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Sukaka gets back to full guard.
Sukaka bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Heilman's guard.
Sukaka trying to control the position from guard on top but Heilman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Heilman manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Heilman with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Heilman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Heilman is looking for a kimura but Sukaka is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Heilman to get the leverage.

Heilman seems to be looking for submissions.
Sukaka has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Heilman is working away from the top position though.
Heilman wants to pass to mount but Sukaka is defending the position.

Heilman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sukaka is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Heilman's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Heilman's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
