The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans tries to clinch up.
Szczevnikov shoots in for a takedown but Evans shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Evans fails in his attempt to clinch.
Evans misses with a head kick.

Szczevnikov shoots in and gets a takedown into Evans's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Szczevnikov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Szczevnikov wants to pass the guard but Evans is keeping the position.
Szczevnikov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Szczevnikov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Evans is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Evans has escaped and now he's on top!
Szczevnikov wants to sweep but no luck.
Szczevnikov is trying to keep Evans in close.
Evans throws and elbow that misses. Szczevnikov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Evans's guard. Nice move by Szczevnikov!
Evans knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Szczevnikov on the ground.

Szczevnikov wants to advance to full mount but Evans doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Evans is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Szczevnikov tries for a kimura but Evans is defending well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Szczevnikov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Evans knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Szczevnikov goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Evans has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Szczevnikov but great work by Evans.
