PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tonichie Hong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tonichie Hong was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Junior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tonichie Hong!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hong throws a head kick that half lands.
Junior swats away the attempt to clinch by Hong.
Hong throws a lazy right hand but Junior sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hong misses with an uppercut.
Junior looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hong is fending him off so far but Junior persists. Nope, Hong circles away and we're back to standing.
Hong throws a nice looking combination but Junior bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hong connects with a body shot that sends Junior's belly button to the back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hong stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hong wants it to stay on the feet.
Junior ducks right into an uppercut from Hong.

Hong throws a lazy right hand but Junior sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hong scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Good exchange - Hong coming out on top.
Junior dodges the punch combination from Hong.
Junior takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Hong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Junior circles away quickly and effectively.
Junior blocks a head kick by Hong.
Junior shoots for a takedown but Hong saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Hong throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Junior sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Tonichie Hong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Junior lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Junior changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hong tries to avoid it but Junior manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hong to the ground. Hong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hong tries to bum rush Junior with a series of wild strikes but Junior uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Junior counters with a left to the body.
Junior lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Junior is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hong sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Junior scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tonichie Hong dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hong clinches up with Junior and pushes him back against the ropes.
Hong trying to control the position but instead, Junior has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hong into the ropes.

Junior keeps control of Hong as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Hong looking to throw knees to the head but Junior is blocking nicely.
Hong gets underhooks to prevent Junior's takedown attempt.

Junior doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Junior misses with a takedown attempt - Hong sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hong closes the distance and clinches.
Hong tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Junior avoids it.
Junior is trying to drag Hong to the mat but Hong just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Junior shoots in but Hong avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Hong moves in looking to clinch but Junior pushes him off.
Hong pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hong tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hong throws a head kick that misses.
Junior shoots in looking for a takedown. Hong tries to sprawl out of it but Junior keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Hong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hong connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
No luck for Junior with that takedown attempt.

Tonichie Hong is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Junior closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hong circles away.

Junior needs to keep his hands up - Hong had a free shot at his head there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hong lands a big head kick that sends Junior tumbling to the mat! Hong takes a step backwards and waves Junior back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Hong throws a hook but Junior blocks it.
Junior dives in and grabs Hong's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hong pushes down on Junior's head and hops out.
Hong tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Junior tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hong sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Junior somewhat.
Hong has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hong drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Junior right on the button. Junior goes down! Hong follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Hong gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tonichie Hong!
