PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Madmen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinji Tainaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tainaka comes into a darkened arena with his song building. 54-71 - Ugly Pray kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Madmen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Tainaka!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tainaka avoids the head kick by Madmen.
Tainaka misses with an uppercut. Madmen saw that one coming.

Madmen trying to keep a closed guard but Tainaka is proving a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Madmen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Tainaka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Madmen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tainaka manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Madmen manages to get himself to full guard.

Tainaka avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

I looks like Tainaka might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Tainaka is nestled in close to Madmen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tainaka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Tainaka stands and steps away. Madmen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Tainaka might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Madmen kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Madmen moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Tainaka has worked his arm free - good work by Tainaka!

Shinji Tainaka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Well Tainaka has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
