The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bird lands a glancing blow to the side of Patton's head.
Bird shoots for a takedown but Patton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bird is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jay Bird seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bird misses with a jab, cross combination.
Patton connects with a crisp jab.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Patton, right into the meat.
Bird wants to clinch.
Bird is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Patton.
Patton scores with a nice right hand.
Patton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bird manages to avoid it.

Patton drops Bird with a beautiful combination! Bird stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Patton is looking for the KO!

It looks like Jay Bird has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bird fails to land the takedown.
Oh Bird is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Bird seems to have got his legs back now.
Patton works Bird's body with a nice hook.
Bird takes a body punch but keeps moving.
An inside leg kick lands from Patton.
Bird is breathing heavily.
Patton's jab looks to have found its range, popping Bird under the eye.
Bird on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Patton fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bird looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Patton lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Patton rushes Bird with punches - Bird moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Bird goes down! Patton follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
