Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Keith Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Lovell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keith Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Lovell!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lovell stuffs the takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet.
Lovell tries to land a body kick
letting Jackson counter with a right hand.
Jackson plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Lovell sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jackson fails with an attempt to clinch.

Lovell has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jackson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lovell pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keith Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lovell has had enough of the clinch but Jackson keeps him there for the moment.

Jackson can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Lovell has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.

Lovell has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jackson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Jackson lands with a kick to the temple. Lovell shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Jackson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Lovell's head.
Jackson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lovell shoots in looking for a takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl out of it but Lovell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jackson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jackson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lovell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jackson avoids it really well and circles away.
Lovell on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jackson. Jackson obviously looking to wear him down.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lovell paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lovell rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Jackson counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Lovell sprawls well.
Lovell throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jackson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Jab, jab by Jackson - just one landing.
Lovell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jackson tries to sprawl but Lovell drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Lovell passes the guard and advances to mount!
Lovell takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lovell tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jackson throws a good cross that connects.

A close round but Max Lovell will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Lovell has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jackson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Max Lovell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Lovell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jackson is looking to get back to full guard here but Lovell has managed to pass to side control instead.

The referee asks Lovell politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lovell prefers to stall for the moment though.

Jackson closes the distance looking to clinch

and Lovell counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lovell connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lovell looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jackson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Keith Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Max Lovell is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I've got Lovell winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
