Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Colby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Frederik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Colby has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Colby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Richard Frederik!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frederik scores with a head kick. Colby tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


It looks like Jake Colby has been cut.
Frederik pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Colby closes the distance and clinches.
Colby wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Frederik tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Colby's elbow.
Colby tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Frederik smiles and moves away.
Colby misses with a series of wild punches.
Frederik pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Colby bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Frederik prevents Colby from improving position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Colby has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Frederik tries a head kick but it misses.

Frederik tries to bum rush Colby with a series of wild strikes but Colby uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Frederik looks gassed!

Frederik gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Colby to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Colby stops Frederik from standing up.

Colby stands up and waves to Frederik to follow him.

Colby shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Frederik napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Colby is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Frederik has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Frederik tries to kick Colby off but Colby keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Colby looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Colby is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Frederik makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Colby takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Colby drives through with a takedown into guard.

Colby drops back looking for a leg! Frederik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Frederik manages to kick Colby off! Colby jumps back into Frederik's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Colby throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Frederik works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Colby wanted to stand there but Frederik had control of the position.

Frederik is working an open guard so Colby takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Frederik looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Frederik tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

A head kick misses from Frederik.
Frederik throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Colby's head.

Frederik gets caught napping as Colby dives in and scores a takedown. Frederik manages to retain guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Colby is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Colby is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Frederik is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Colby is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frederik tries to clinch up.
Frederik tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Colby paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Colby gets the takedown into side control.
Frederik is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Colby is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Colby working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Colby decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Frederik gets tackled into the cage by Colby. Colby maintains the clinch.
Frederik lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Colby wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Frederik has him pressed against the cage.

Frederik is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Colby tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Frederik gets through Colby's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Colby here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Colby is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Frederik throws a nice looking combination but Colby bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Colby decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Frederik's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Frederik wants to get back to his feet but Colby is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
