Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Drake Melfred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denis Opal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Drake Melfred!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Denis Opal!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Opal swinging wildly here.
Melfred avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Opal tries to clinch up but Melfred circles away and keeps his distance.
Opal fails with a takedown attempt.

Melfred fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Opal, pushing him back against the cage.
Opal jumps guard but Melfred stands there with Opal around his waist. Opal gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Opal's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Melfred doesn't manage to clinch there - Opal circles away.
Melfred shoots for a takedown but Opal saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Drake Melfred has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denis Opal.

Opal has Melfred up against the cage in a clinch.
Opal changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Melfred fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Melfred fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Opal manages to avoid it.
Melfred dives in and grabs Opal's left leg, looking for a takedown. Opal pushes down on Melfred's head and hops out.

Opal is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Melfred doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Opal.

Opal perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Melfred escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Opal gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Melfred wants to stand and escape but Opal is having none of it.

A decent looking cross lands there for Opal.

Melfred tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Opal.

Melfred shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Opal manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Melfred is fighting to break Opal's control of his arms but Opal is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Opal is just content to waste time from the top position. Melfred takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Melfred is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Opal. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Denis Opal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Drake Melfred will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Opal tries to close the distance and clinch but Melfred swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Melfred.
Melfred gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Drake Melfred is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The referee asks Opal politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Opal prefers to stall for the moment though.
Melfred is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Opal has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Melfred tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Melfred is in a horrible position here. Opal smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Opal takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Melfred tries to control Opal's body but Opal pushes him off. Melfred squirms to his side and now Opal has his back!

Denis Opal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Opal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
