PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chase Beebe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hydeo Takaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takaro has chosen Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Hydeo Takaro!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takaro wants to clinch.
Takaro takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Takaro closes the distance looking to clinch
and Beebe counters with a good low kick that Takaro was not able to check.
The fight stays on the outside here - Takaro looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Beebe gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Takaro trying to control but Beebe is working from the bottom.
Beebe has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Chase Beebe has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Takaro moves out of range of the body kick.
Takaro checks a low kick from Beebe.
Beebe finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Takaro tries to clinch up

and Beebe counters with a single leg into guard. Takaro didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beebe tries to free his leg and advance position but Takaro is retaining full guard.
Takaro looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Takaro has his hands on Beebe's head, controlling the position.

Beebe drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Takaro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Beebe has Takaro in his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Takaro is fighting to break Beebe's control of his arms but Beebe is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Takaro drops back, looking for a kneebar! Beebe looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Beebe looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Beebe!
Beebe is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Takaro will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Beebe's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Takaro is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Beebe tries for a kimura but Takaro is defending well.
Beebe content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Beebe looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Takaro is trying to improve his position.
Beebe taking a breather here.
Beebe has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Beebe goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Takaro is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Takaro content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Beebe has locked up a guillotine! Beebe's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Takaro is holding on here and Beebe must be using up a lot of energy. Takaro has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Beebe gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
