Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a takedown attempt

and Barney counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Barney has control of the leg.
Barney is thwarting Jones's attempts to control the position.
Jones regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Barney is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barney can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barney keeps working.

Jones tries for a kimura but Barney is defending well.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Barney counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Jones throws a series of punches but Barney moves out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barney postures up and lands a big shot to Jones's brow.
Barney wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Barney throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Barney throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Jones is fighting to break Barney's control of his arms but Barney is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Jones is pushing down on Barney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Barney is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jones wants to stand but Barney has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Jones works his foot free and advances to mount.

Barney is looking to improve his position but Jones isn't that keen on the idea.

Barney is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Jones is landing with some decent strikes but Barney is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barney is squirming around, avoiding Jones's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barney closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage.
Jones fails to pull guard.
Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jones is working for takedown but Barney is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barney is trying to break the clinch but Jones has him pressed against the cage.

Barney turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
You can see the frustration on Jones's face as Barney controls the position.

Barney swings around for an armbar but Jones sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Barney's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barney swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Daniel Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Barney throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Jones slips nicely into half guard.
Barney is controlling Jones's trapped leg to prevent Jones from advancing to side control.
Jones is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Barney!
