PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Pesa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smitty Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen My Will Be Done - Unearth as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pesa fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smith lands with a cross.

Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pesa is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pesa is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith wants to sweep but no luck.
Pesa seems to have got his legs back now.

Pesa stands up and waves to Smith to follow him.
Pesa checks a leg kick nicely.
Pesa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith 's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pesa off to one side.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pesa scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Smith doesn't seem bothered though.
Pesa blocks the body kick.
Pesa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Pesa could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Pesa looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pesa won't allow Smith to get back to his feet.

Smith has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pesa off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Pesa lands a nice shot to the body.

Pesa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pesa looks to clinch
and Smith counters with a left and a right that stings Pesa.

Pesa shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Pesa stands and steps away. Smith gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Smith tries to clinch but Pesa is having none of it.
Smith throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pesa.
Smith cracks Pesa with a hook to the temple - Pesa is on wobbly legs here! Smith swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Pesa falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Smith wins by TKO!
