PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zidane Sephiroth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Dennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dennis has chosen Bark at the moon as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zidane Sephiroth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Dennis!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dennis darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sephiroth pushes Dennis off looking to stand but Dennis dives back in and keeps control.
Sephiroth is staying active underneath Dennis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Dennis controlling the action here.
Sephiroth wants to get back to his feet.
Dennis sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sephiroth defending well though.
Dennis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sephiroth does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sephiroth pushes Dennis off looking to stand but Dennis dives back in and keeps control.
Dennis performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Jorge Dennis has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Sephiroth fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dennis sprawls well initially but Sephiroth persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sephiroth prevents Dennis from getting the reversal.

Sephiroth moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dennis has worked his arm free - good work by Dennis!
Dennis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sephiroth off and has taken his back!
Sephiroth has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Dennis.

Dennis tightening his grip on Sephiroth, looking for the choke.
Sephiroth looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Sephiroth is keeping busy.
Sephiroth is trying to get back to his feet but Dennis has full control of the position and if anything, Sephiroth has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Well, with Dennis on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Sephiroth is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dennis lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Dennis.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dennis lands strikes to the head.
Dennis keeps control of the position easily here as Sephiroth tries to buck him off.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Dennis's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Sephiroth really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sephiroth is trying to stand back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dennis tries to get the hooks in deep but Sephiroth pushed the leg off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sephiroth is trapped and Dennis is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Sephiroth is trying to get back to his feet but Dennis has full control of the position and if anything, Sephiroth has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Sephiroth is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Dennis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dennis shoots in looking for a takedown but Sephiroth manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dennis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Dennis thuds a left hand into Sephiroth's body.
Dennis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sephiroth was well out of range. Poor timing from Dennis.

Sephiroth dives in and scores a takedown into Dennis's guard.
Dennis pulls Sephiroth in close to his closed guard and prevents Sephiroth from doing any damage or advancing position.
Sephiroth knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dennis on the ground.
Dennis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sephiroth!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sephiroth tries to buck Dennis off but he can't manage it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dennis lands a nice shot to the head.
Dennis thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Oh Sephiroth is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sephiroth is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Dennis lands a big shot there that rocks Sephiroth but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dennis postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Sephiroth in real trouble here! The ref calls for Sephiroth to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jorge Dennis!
A relieved looking Jorge Dennis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
