Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eli Cordero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinji Takahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eli Cordero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Takahara!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takahara throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sloppy strikes from Cordero. Those never looked like landing.
A combination from Cordero does no damage.
Cordero throws a looping overhand right but Takahara ducks down to avoid it.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Takahara, right into the meat.
Takahara tries to land a front kick but Cordero steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Cordero stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Takahara.
Cordero is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Takahara changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cordero tries to avoid it but Takahara manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cordero to the ground. Cordero escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Shinji Takahara hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Takahara fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cordero manages to avoid it.

Takahara lands a nice hook to Cordero's body. Cordero takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
