Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jared Kerns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, John Narvith Barcarse!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kerns throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Barcarse tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kerns is in Barcarse's guard.
Barcarse looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Barcarse working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kerns.
Kerns stays in close to Barcarse's body and controls the position.
Kerns stands and throws Barcarse's legs to the side, diving into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Kerns scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Barcarse to see if he's OK.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kerns has hold of Barcarse's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Barcarse tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kerns cranks the arm and Barcarse screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Barcarse, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jared Kerns!
