Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Schalk Burger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fidel Soler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soler has chosen National Anthem of Cuba as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Schalk Burger could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Fidel Soler's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Schalk Burger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fidel Soler!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soler shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Burger pinned against the cage. Burger gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A lazy body kick from Soler

and Burger counters by moving into the clinch.

Burger's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Burger doesn't manage to clinch there - Soler circles away.

Soler gets a clinch.
Burger fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Soler has Burger pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Burger manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Burger wants a takedown.

Burger decides to pull guard.
Burger keeping moving, preventing Soler from controlling successfully.
Soler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Soler tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Schalk Burger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fidel Soler.

Burger's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Soler rushes Burger and presses him up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Burger breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Burger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Soler's guard.
Soler controls Burger momentarily but Burger frees himself.
Burger engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Soler wants to get back to his feet but Burger is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Burger slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Schalk Burger.

Burger breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Soler.

Burger tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Soler manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Burger has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Soler regains guard immediately.

Burger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Soler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burger has managed to get both his arms back between Soler's legs - danger averted.
Soler is wriggling around but Burger manages to pass to half guard.
Soler is trying to escape back to his feet but Burger uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Burger just content to control the position.
Soler is looking to regain half guard here but Burger keeps moving and retains side control.
Burger remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Soler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burger wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Burger will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Schalk Burger.

Soler has managed to clinch.
Soler fails to pull guard.
Soler blocks a body shot from Burger.

Burger has Soler pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Burger pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Soler tumbling to the mat - Burger dives into Soler's guard.

Burger gets to his feet - Soler follows without any prompting.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Soler.
Fidel Soler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Burger shoots in and gets a takedown into Soler's guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Burger in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burger uses his free foot to push down on Soler's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Soler.

Burger wants to control from the top but Soler keeps moving.

Schalk Burger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fidel Soler.
