PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Foti Vasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Davison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasa comes to the cage accompanied by Highway to Hell (AC/DC). Davison has chosen Nowhere to run as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Foti Vasa!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Davison!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasa fails with an attempt to clinch.

Vasa shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vasa showed some decent athleticism there.
Vasa trying to control the action but Davison is working from the bottom.
Davison is trying to get back to full guard.
Vasa sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Vasa is nestled in close to Davison, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Vasa is looking to take a break and control but Davison is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Davison wants to get back to his feet.
Vasa is trying to control the action in half guard but Davison is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Foti Vasa just wasn't active enough.
Davison shoots in but no luck this time.
Foti Vasa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vasa scores with a takedown into Davison's guard.

Vasa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Vasa stands up from Davison's guard - Vasa perhaps looking for a knockout.
Horrible takedown by Vasa or perhaps it was just good defense by Davison which made him look bad.
Vasa plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Davison looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Foti Vasa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Davison.
Vasa fails with an attempt to clinch.

Vasa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Davison circles away.
Davison throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Vasa is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Davison's half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vasa is trying to control. Davison wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Vasa slips a nice elbow through Davison's hands, connecting with Davison's forehead.
Davison looks like he's trying to stand up.
Vasa looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Davison with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Davison is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vasa pulls his head out easily.
Davison looks gassed!
Vasa is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Vasa postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Davison to stand up.

Vasa clinches with his opponent.

Vasa manages to break the clinch.
Vasa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davison sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vasa somewhat.

Vasa looks for a takedown but Davison sprawls well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vasa throws a right hand that Davison ducks under and follows up with a left that Davison also avoids with ease.
Davison throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vasa's waist but Vasa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Davison off to one side.
Vasa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Davison swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Vasa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Davison was covering up waiting for the punch and Vasa finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Vasa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davison is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vasa creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Foti Vasa dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Davison misses with a takedown attempt - Vasa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Davison shoots in for a double leg but Vasa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Vasa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vasa lands in his opponent's guard.

Davison throws his legs up looking for a submission but Vasa uses it to pass to side control.

Davison is trying to escape the position but Vasa is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davison takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Vasa landing a few strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vasa works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Vasa happy to just control the position for now.

Vasa is working to tighten is grip on Davison's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Davison has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vasa is really squeezing tight and eventually Davison passes out! Vasa breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Foti Vasa!
