The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas misses with a wild body shot.

and Thomas counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Thomas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Diaz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thomas manages to avoid it.
Oscar Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Diaz feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Thomass jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Diaz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Thomas knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Diaz has hold of Thomas's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Thomas tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Diaz cranks the arm and Thomas screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Thomas, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
