Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Slamito Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Slamito Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guerrero takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Guerrero shoots in for a takedown but Rogers shows good takedown defense.
Rogers throws out a powerful jab.
Guerrero fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Slamito Guerrero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rogers bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Guerrero's head.
Guerrero takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Rogers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Guerrero swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Oh Guerrero is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Guerrero seems to have got his legs back now.
Guerrero is looking to stand up but Rogers isn't so interested in that idea.
Rogers pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Guerrero is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rogers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rogers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Guerrero swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rogers connects with the punch.
Rogers throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Guerrero on the side of the head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Guerrero.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Guerrero feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rogers had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Guerrero is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rogers Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Guerrero's back instead.

Rogers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guerrero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Guerrero closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Guerrero wants to stand up but Rogers has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Rogers lands a really nice looking cross but Guerrero seems unphased.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rogers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rogers might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

You can see the frustration on Rogers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Rogers lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Slamito Guerrero overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Let's hope that Rogers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Guerrero is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Guerrero is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Steve Rogers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
