PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Capelle Eric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maria Papadopoulou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Papadopoulou has chosen GLADIATOR as his entrance music. Maria Papadopoulou told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Maria Papadopoulou!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papadopoulou tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Eric manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Eric throws a head kick but Papadopoulou moves out of range.

Papadopoulou has Eric up against the cage in a clinch.
Papadopoulou goes for a takedown in the clinch but Eric prevents it.
Eric has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Papadopoulou avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Papadopoulou tries for a takedown. No joy.
Eric stops a takedown attempt from Papadopoulou.
Capelle Eric has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maria Papadopoulou.
Papadopoulou tries to score a body lock takedown but Eric shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Papadopoulou has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Eric is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Papadopoulou drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Eric tries to land a knee to the head but Papadopoulou blocks with his arms.

Papadopoulou tries to score a body lock takedown but Eric shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Papadopoulou is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Eric fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Eric tries to pull guard but Papadopoulou holds him up against the cage and eventually Eric drops back down to his feet.
Eric misses with an elbow over the top.
Eric changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Papadopoulou fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Papadopoulou is looking to clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Papadopoulou as Eric shoots in.
Eric throws a head kick but Papadopoulou moves out of range.
Papadopoulou doesn't manage to clinch there - Eric circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Eric looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Eric backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Papadopoulou's temple! It sends Papadopoulou violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Eric celebrates and the doctors try to help Papadopoulou!
