Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, AL James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Queli Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from James enables Ribeiro to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. James manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ribeiro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
James keeping moving, preventing Ribeiro from controlling successfully.
James has momentary wrist control but Ribeiro slips an elbow through the middle.
Ribeiro with a flurry of punches that miss.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ribeiro controls from within his opponent's guard.

James is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ribeiro defends well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ribeiro looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ribeiro has a closed guard, preventing James from standing up.

James drops back looking for a leg! Ribeiro is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ribeiro manages to kick James off! James jumps back into Ribeiro's guard.

Ribeiro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. James gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ribeiro seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ribeiro looking to control.
James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
James throws a big right hand that misses.

James gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Ribeiro drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Ribeiro wanted to stand there but James had control of the position.
Ribeiro trying to control but James is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ribeiro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

James is looking for a triangle but Ribeiro pushes his legs off easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ribeiro drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and James dives on top into guard.
Ribeiro not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ribeiro has a closed guard, preventing James from standing up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ribeiro has James pulled in close to control his posture.

James thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
James passes Ribeiro's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
James landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

James is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ribeiro is trying to maintain the position but James is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AL James dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Ribeiro shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Ribeiro is looking for a kimura but James is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ribeiro to get the leverage.

Ribeiro is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so James is just riding it out for now. Ribeiro eventually gives up the hold.
Ribeiro throws a strike but James avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ribeiro wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Ribeiro trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Ribeiro is posturing up here but James has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Ribeiro tries to roll out but it's too tight and Ribeiro has to tap! Slick submission there by James!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). AL James!
