Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Garth Fourie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rich Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pena comes into a darkened arena with his song building. RAWR kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Garth Fourie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Rich Pena!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pena swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fourie checks a low kick from Pena.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Fourie jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pena throws a leg kick
and Fourie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Pena has a takedown stuffed.
Nice takedown defense from Fourie. No joy for Pena on that attempt.
Fourie moves to clinch but Pena breaks away

so Pena counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fourie keeping moving, preventing Pena from controlling successfully.

Pena throwing strikes from guard but Fourie blocks nicely.
Pena advances position into side control!
Pena trying to control the position but Fourie is working away.
Pena creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Fourie is trying to improve his position.
Pena landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Pena wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fourie keeps working.
Pena tries to move into full mount but can't pass Fourie's legs.

Fourie takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pena lands a decent elbow from side control.
Pena in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The strikes coming from Pena are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Fourie sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Pena controlling the pace.
Fourie works his way to full guard. Good work.

Pena throwing strikes but missing.
Pena trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Fourie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pena!
Pena tries to lock up and control but Fourie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Fourie looking to control but Pena is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Fourie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pena is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Pena is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Pena holds on, trying desperately to control.
Pena is squirming around, avoiding Fourie's attempts to control the action.
Pena tries to hold on but Fourie postures up.
Fourie trying to control but Pena is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pena can do anything to dispel that myth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rich Pena dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Pena pivots, looking for a leg kick but Fourie is out of range and Pena settles back down.
Fourie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fourie looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pena circles away from the clinch attempt
and Pena counters with a low kick, right behind Fourie 's knee.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fourie doesn't manage to clinch there - Pena circles away.

Fourie tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Pena manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pena misses with a takedown attempt - Fourie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fourie enables Pena to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fourie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Pena trying to control the position from guard on top but Fourie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fourie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Fourie is controlling Pena's posture.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Pena wants to control from the top but Fourie keeps moving.

Pena pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fourie is keeping the position for now.
Fourie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pena prevents Fourie from getting back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fourie shoots in for a takedown but Pena shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fourie tries to clinch up.

Pena connects with a leg kick. Fourie looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Pena lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Pena shoots in looking for a takedown but Fourie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pena's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Fourie staying out of range there.
Pena has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Fourie.
A slow jab from Pena misses its intended target.
Fourie shoots in and drives through. Pena sprawls well.
Pena throws a hook but Fourie blocks it.
Fourie tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Pena counters with a low kick, right behind Fourie 's knee.

Fourie wants to clinch but Pena slips to the side

and Pena counters with a single leg into guard. Fourie didn't expect that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fourie wants to get back to his feet but Pena is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pena postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fourie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Pena working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fourie's head.
Pena postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rich Pena showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Fourie looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pena moves away from the strike by Fourie.

Fourie throws a solid leg kick but Pena takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Fourie.
Fourie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pena as he jumps to the side.
Fourie scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Fourie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A left lands for Pena.
Pena misses with a low kick.
Pena tries a low kick but Fourie avoids it.

Pena has closed the distance and engaged Fourie in a clinch.
Fourie is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.

Fourie has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pena clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Pena is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Fourie's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Pena is in bad spot here.
Pena trying to control the hands but Fourie won't let him.
Fourie trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

I really don't envy Pena right now.

Pena needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.
Fourie is looking to control Pena but Pena is wriggling around and keeping busy.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Pena turns into Fourie and is now in his guard.

Garth Fourie showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Pena has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
