The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith looks to score with a jab to the body but Barone is just out of range.
Smith throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Barone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Barone does a little dance to reset his feet.
Barone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith.
Barone tries to clinch up.
Robert Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Barone moves out of range easily.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Barone, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Barone against the cage but Barone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Barone tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barone defends it easily.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barone gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barone would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Smith isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Barone stacks Smith on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Barone!

Barone goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Smith has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Barone but great work by Smith.

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Barone is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Pauly Barone will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Smith tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Smith wants to break free but Barone has control.
Barone prevents a body shot from Smith.
Barone pushes off an throws an elbow but Smith leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Barone creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Smith's defenses.

It looks like Robert Smith has been cut.
Smith can't get the takedown.
Barone lands an elbow inside.
A frustrated look appears on Smith's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Smith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Come on Barone - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Smith jumps guard but Barone stands there with Smith around his waist. Smith gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Barone throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smith blocks it with crossed arms.

Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Barone avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
