PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Xavier David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bapit Pradchapet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David comes to the cage accompanied by Bring The Pain. Pradchapet has chosen Wanted Dead or Alive as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Xavier David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bapit Pradchapet!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pradchapet walks into a left hand.
A shot to the liver by Pradchapet. Beautiful body shot.
David slips a jab from Pradchapet.
David blocks a head kick by Pradchapet.
Pradchapet takes a swing at David's ribcage but misses.
Pradchapet connects with a solid leg kick.
David ducks under a wild hook from Pradchapet.
David connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Pradchapet momentarily.
David moves away from the strike by Pradchapet.
David looks to land a left hand but Pradchapet moved out of range nicely.
Pradchapet moves out of range as David strikes.
Pradchapet has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pradchapet there as he acknowledges the shot.
David uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pradchapet.

Pradchapet throws a low kick but David moves out of range easily.
Pradchapet swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Pradchapet swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pradchapet throws a low kick but David avoids it.
Pradchapet shoots in looking for a takedown but David manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pradchapet's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Bapit Pradchapet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pradchapet throws the kick towards the body but David avoids it.

Pradchapet ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

David gets tackled into the cage by Pradchapet. Pradchapet maintains the clinch.
David is trying to break the clinch but Pradchapet has him pressed against the cage.
Pradchapet struggles to land a body shot inside as David controls his hands.
David wants to get back to striking at distance but Pradchapet won't allow it.

David has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pradchapet clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
David thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
David misses with an elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
David punishes Pradchapet with strikes from the back mount.

Pradchapet is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if David gets his way!

David is trying to stick to Pradchapet's back but Pradchapet is turning into David. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in David's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Pradchapet.
Pradchapet controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Pradchapet trying to control the position from guard on top but David is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
David will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pradchapet postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Pradchapet slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Pradchapet loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Pradchapet in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
David is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Pradchapet has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Xavier David wasn't doing enough on the ground.
David slips a jab and a cross from Pradchapet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pradchapet is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by David.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pradchapet lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Pradchapet uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by David.

Pradchapet throws an overhand right that lands on David's shoulder, as David tries to avoid the shot.
Pradchapet moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
David fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pradchapet has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Pradchapet is looking to clinch.
David uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pradchapet.
Pradchapet throws a low kick but it's checked well by David.
David throws a solid leg kick but Pradchapet takes the impact on his shin and smiles at David.

David misses with an uppercut.
Pradchapet takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Pradchapet throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
David comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A combination from David does no damage.
David connects with a single shot there.
David doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
David avoids a punch combination nicely.
Bapit Pradchapet seems to be getting the better of the standup.
David lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Good leg kick by Pradchapet there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

David drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pradchapet is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
David wants to get back to full guard.
Pradchapet throwing shots but David is blocking nicely.
Xavier David overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
David is staying active underneath Pradchapet, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

David's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A close second round but Bapit Pradchapet will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Pradchapet sizes up David with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
David takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

David is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
David uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pradchapet.

and David counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

David throws a nice looking combination but Pradchapet bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

David tries to bum rush Pradchapet with a series of wild strikes but Pradchapet uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

David blocks a low kick nicely.
David bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Pradchapet has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from David finds it's way round the side to connect with Pradchapet's head.

Bapit Pradchapet is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Pradchapet wants to get back to full guard.
Pradchapet moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
David throws a strike but Pradchapet rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Xavier David has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

David has his foot on Pradchapet's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pradchapet works his way back into a safe position though.

Bapit Pradchapet comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pradchapet has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
