Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eli Samuel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Snelling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samuel comes to the cage accompanied by Stuck in the Moment. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eli Samuel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Snelling!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samuel slaps away a takedown attempt from Snelling, before circling back to the center of the mat.
David Snelling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Snelling fails in his attempt to clinch.

Samuel darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Samuel is looking for a kimura but Snelling is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Samuel to get the leverage.
Samuel thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Snelling's head.

Samuel wants to work for an arm triangle but Snelling is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Snelling had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Samuel defends it easily.
Samuel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Samuel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Samuel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Samuel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Samuel seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Snelling controls Samuel momentarily but Samuel frees himself.

Samuel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Snelling manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Samuel has Snelling in his guard.

Samuel has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Eli Samuel has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Samuel shoots for a double leg takedown but Snelling sprawls well. He's pushed Samuel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Snelling tries to close the distance and clinch up but Samuel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Snelling scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Samuel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Snelling as he avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown by Snelling or perhaps it was just good defense by Samuel which made him look bad.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Snelling fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Eli Samuel will probably get the nod.

Snelling throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Samuel stands up from mount. Strange move.
Snelling stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Snelling wants it to stay on the feet.
Samuel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Samuel shoots for a double leg takedown but Snelling sprawls well. He's pushed Samuel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Snelling feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Samuel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Snelling swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Samuel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Samuel drops back, looking for a kneebar! Snelling looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Snelling looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Snelling!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Samuel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
