Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Condit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Fourie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ian Fourie told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Condit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ian Fourie!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Condit fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Condit shoots in looking for a takedown but Fourie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Condit's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nice sprawl there from Fourie as Condit shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Condit. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Condit shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fourie sprawls well. Fourie wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Condit gets slowly back to his feet.

Fourie drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Condit wants to stand but Fourie is controlling the position.
Fourie is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Condit wants to sweep here but Fourie controlling him for the moment.
Condit has a closed guard, preventing Fourie from standing up.

Condit is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Fourie trying to control the position from guard on top but Condit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fourie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Condit is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fourie trying to control but Condit is working from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ian Fourie wasn't active enough on the ground.
Fourie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Condit as he avoids it easily.

Condit gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fourie to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Fourie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Condit is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fourie, into his guard.

Condit is sitting in close to Fourie's body. Fourie has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Condit is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Condit is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Fourie.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ian Fourie!
