Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren shoots in and bounces Welsh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Welsh trying to strike off his back.
Askren has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Welsh trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Askren throwing strikes but missing.
Welsh manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Askren manages to get himself to full guard.
Welsh is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Askren looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Welsh passes into half guard.
Welsh drops an elbow to the side of Askren's head.
Askren with the active half guard here but Welsh passes nicely into side control.
Welsh is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Askren has escaped the position, nice work there.

Welsh misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
You can see the frustration on Askren's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Askren avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Welsh.
Welsh scores with punches from side control.
Welsh is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Askren knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Welsh is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Askren has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Askren looks to move to half guard but instead Welsh has passed into mount! Damn!

Welsh thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Welsh connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!

It looks like Ben Askren has been cut.
Askren is looking to improve his position but Welsh isn't that keen on the idea.
Welsh loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Askren scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Welsh land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Welsh stands and salutes the crowd.
