Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Taylor McDropkick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mats Jorgensen!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDropkick throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jorgensen throws a lazy head kick

and McDropkick counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McDropkick in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jorgensen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jorgensen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McDropkick trying to control the position from guard on top but Jorgensen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jorgensen is trying to control the position but McDropkick postures up.
McDropkick wants to get up but he can't break Jorgensen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jorgensen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jorgensen wants to lay and pray for a moment but McDropkick keeps working.
McDropkick is trying to control Jorgensen's posture but Jorgensen avoids it.
Jorgensen avoids the strikes from the bottom by McDropkick.

Jorgensen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McDropkick, who protects the arm well.
McDropkick gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Jorgensen blocks the strikes from McDropkick.

McDropkick slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Jorgensen stands up and beckons McDropkick to his feet.

Jorgensen lands with a nice combination. McDropkick backs away looking to recover.
McDropkick closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jorgensen circles away.

and McDropkick counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Jorgensen is lucky that one didn't land flush.

McDropkick throws a head kick that misses

and Jorgensen counters with a nice double leg into side control. McDropkick won't be happy with that.
McDropkick throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
McDropkick is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jorgensen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
McDropkick gets full guard.

McDropkick tries to roll over but Jorgensen keeps him under control.

Jorgensen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McDropkick doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jorgensen.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mats Jorgensen will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McDropkick pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McDropkick lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Taylor McDropkick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jorgensen misses with a kick to the body.
McDropkick tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jorgensen blocks a head kick by McDropkick.
Jorgensen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McDropkick as he jumps to the side.
McDropkick darts in trying to clinch

and Jorgensen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
McDropkick lands an elbow inside that Jorgensen shrugs off.
McDropkick with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
McDropkick is trying to break the clinch but Jorgensen has him pressed against the cage.

Jorgensen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
McDropkick postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Jorgensen wants to improve his position but instead McDropkick has moved into half guard.
Jorgensen wants to get back to full guard.
McDropkick moves nicely into side control.
McDropkick tries to score with some ground and pound. Jorgensen controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
McDropkick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jorgensen keeps working.
Jorgensen parries the strikes from McDropkick easily there. McDropkick is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Jorgensen to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jorgensen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
McDropkick moves nicely into side control.
Jorgensen is breathing heavily.

McDropkick tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jorgensen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

McDropkick is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jorgensen!

McDropkick goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jorgensen turns into him and now he's in McDropkick's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jorgensen trying to control the position from guard on top but McDropkick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jorgensen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McDropkick is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jorgensen, into his guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jorgensen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Taylor McDropkick will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Jorgensen counters with a good low kick that McDropkick was not able to check.
Mats Jorgensen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McDropkick misses with a head kick.

McDropkick tries to clinch up

and Jorgensen counters with a nice double leg into side control. McDropkick won't be happy with that.
McDropkick is trying to control Jorgensen's posture but Jorgensen avoids it.

Jorgensen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, McDropkick has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jorgensen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jorgensen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
McDropkick tries to control but Jorgensen manages to take his back.

You can see the frustration on McDropkick's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
McDropkick tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Jorgensen prevents McDropkick from getting the reversal.
McDropkick is working hard here to advance position.
McDropkick wants to hold on but Jorgensen pushes him away.
McDropkick regains half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McDropkick is looking for a sweep. Jorgensen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jorgensen is thwarting McDropkick's attempts to control the position.
Jorgensen passes to full mount!
McDropkick is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
McDropkick is working to get back to half guard.

Jorgensen looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
McDropkick is desperately trying to improve his position but Jorgensen has a good base and remains in mount.

Jorgensen swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and McDropkick is now in Jorgensen's guard. A big mistake from Jorgensen there, giving up the dominant position!

McDropkick is pushing down on Jorgensen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jorgensen is fighting to maintain full guard but McDropkick has managed to sneak the leg through.
McDropkick is looking to take a break and control but Jorgensen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jorgensen is looking to control McDropkick's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jorgensen avoid being mounted?
Jorgensen is looking to improve his position.
McDropkick misses with a head shot. Jorgensen uses the momentum to regain guard.

Jorgensen working for a triangle but McDropkick defends it easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McDropkick loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jorgensen has his foot on McDropkick's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McDropkick works his way back into a safe position though.

McDropkick tries to stand but Jorgensen is controlling from the bottom.
McDropkick postures up in Jorgensen's guard and throws a big left but Jorgensen blocks it.

Mats Jorgensen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jorgensen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
