PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andres Bernardini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Tuna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tuna comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sharky + George kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andres Bernardini!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doug Tuna!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bernardini throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tuna was covering up waiting for the punch and Bernardini finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bernardini in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bernardini throwing strikes but missing.
Bernardini looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Bernardini is looking to stand up but Tuna won't let him.

Tuna throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Tuna pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Tuna has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bernardini finds it's way round the side to connect with Tuna's head.

Tuna drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

The crowd cheers as Bernardini lands an impressive looking overhand right. Tuna doesn't seem phased though.

Tuna walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bernardini checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

and Tuna makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Bernardini really felt that one!
Bernardini misses the shot to the body.
Tuna lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bernardini moves into range and connects with a jab.

Bernardini throws a leg kick but Tuna moved away.
Tuna scores with a kick to the midsection.

Bernardini misses with a takedown attempt
and Bernardini takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andres Bernardini. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bernardini throws a right and a left that Tuna avoids nicely.
Tuna lands a nice looking kick to the body. Bernardini takes a step back to recover.

Bernardini looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Bernardini takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Tuna uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bernardini.
Bernardini walks forward, straight into a front kick from Tuna.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Tuna, right into the meat.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A looping hook to the body misses from Bernardini. Tuna does a little dance to reset his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tuna throws a push kick but Bernardini slaps the foot to one side.
Nice shot by Tuna.
Bernardini throws a series of punches but Tuna moves out of range.

and Tuna counters with a leg kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Bernardini blocks the leg kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bernardini takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Tuna fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bernardini manages to avoid it.

Tuna takes a swing at Bernardini's ribcage but misses.
Bernardini throws a series of punches but Tuna avoids them all with ease.
Andres Bernardini is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tuna thows a body shot but no joy.

Tuna shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bernardini's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bernardini shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tuna sprawls well. Tuna wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bernardini gets slowly back to his feet.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Bernardini is trying to get back to his feet but Tuna has full control of the position and if anything, Bernardini has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Tuna slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Well Tuna has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
