The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oaken shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sherk but Sherk pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sherk scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Sherk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oaken. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sherk cracks Oaken with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Oaken is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Sherk pulls his head out easily.

Sherk is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sherk seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sherk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Oaken is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sherk is staying active underneath Oaken, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
