PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hacky Sack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreas L (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sack comes to the cage accompanied by Sweet home alabama. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hacky Sack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andreas L!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
L misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
L tries a head kick but it misses.
A left lands for Sack.
Sack uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by L.
Sack misses with a looping left.
Sack throws a right hand that L ducks under and follows up with a left that L also avoids with ease.
L slips a jab and a cross from Sack.
Sack ducks down and throws a hook to the body but L moves away.
Hacky Sack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sack avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sack lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
L fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sack throws a hook but L blocks it.
Sack looks to land a right hand but L moved out of range.
Sack displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as L throws out the jab.

L slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Sack is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by L.

L drops his hands momentarily and Sack takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Sack checks a leg kick.
L throws a right hand that Sack ducks under and follows up with a left that Sack also avoids with ease.
Sack jabbing away but nothing is landing.
L fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sack tries to clinch but L is having none of it.
L takes a swing at Sack's ribcage but misses.
Sack moves forwards but L connects with a nice, crisp jab.

The fighters circling - Sack throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

L moves forwards but Sack connects with a nice, crisp jab.
L shoots in but Sack avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hacky Sack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andreas L.

L fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Sack works the jab nicely.
L closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Sack is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

and L counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Sack lands with an uppercut that bounces L off the cage and back into range.
Sack stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sack wants it to stay on the feet.
L avoids the body shot from Sack.
L misses with a series of wild punches.
L walks into a stiff left hand from Sack.
L uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sack.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from L.
Sack thuds a left hand into L's body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

L misses with a jab, cross combination.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A looping hook to the body misses from Sack. L does a little dance to reset his feet.
L closes the distance and clinches up with Sack, looking for a takedown. L pushes Sack against the cage but Sack circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
L is trying desperately to land a takedown but Sack is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for L.

Sack tests L's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Sack ducks down and throws a hook to the body but L moves away.

Sack swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Andreas L is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
L throws a body punch but Sack moves out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sack uses good head movement to avoid the hook from L.

Sack comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
L throws a leg kick which misses Sack's front leg but catches the back leg as Sack tries to avoid it.
L avoids a punch combination nicely.
A right-left combo lands from L.
Sack throws a hook but L blocks it.

Donk. Sack catches L right on the button with a cross.
L ducks under a wild hook from Sack.
A head kick misses from L.
Sack throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sack scores with a nice strike.
L shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sack but Sack pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hacky Sack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andreas L.
Sack misses the jab.
L misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
L throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sack sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sack feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ls jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and L counters with a head kick.

L throws the left hand but Sack avoids the punch easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sack cracks L with a good jab.
Sack takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Sack just misses with a punch to the body.
L bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sack misses with an uppercut. L saw that one coming.
Sack throws a looping overhand right but L ducks down to avoid it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
L takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Sack throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around L's waist but L gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sack off to one side.
L misses with a hook. Sack ducked under it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hacky Sack dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Sack tries to score a power double leg takedown but L sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sack somewhat.

Sack uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before L has time to react.
L has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Sack walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Sack throws a hook but L avoids it easily.
L moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


Sack is rocked!
Sack works the jab nicely.
Oh Sack is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

L misses with a series of wild punches.
L scores with a one two! Sack had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sack will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sack lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Sack slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Sack thows a body shot but no joy.
Sack throws a combination but it was largely blocked by L.
L fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sack avoids it really well and circles away.
Sack leaves L with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Sack cracks L with an open hand slap.
Sack seems to have got his legs back now.

Sack shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sack showed some decent athleticism there.
L manages to get to full guard.
L keeping moving, preventing Sack from controlling successfully.
Sack in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hacky Sack is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

L managing to control the position.
Sack trying to control the position from guard on top but L is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sack is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because L is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Sack postures up in L's guard and throws a big left but L blocks it.
Andreas L has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sack is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sack trying to control the position from guard on top but L is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

L working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sack doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sack manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Sack has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

L has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sack can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hacky Sack.
Well Sack has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
