PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rod Quantock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francis Vinci (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quantock comes to the cage accompanied by Meant to be funny, not an ad.. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Rod Quantock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Francis Vinci!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vinci tries to clinch there but Quantock circles away.
Vinci shoots for a takedown but Quantock saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Vinci tries to close the distance and clinch up but Quantock swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Vinci shoots in looking for a takedown but Quantock manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vinci's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Vinci tries to clinch there but Quantock circles away.

Vinci gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Quantock to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Vinci wants to get back to his feet but Quantock is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Quantock stands up from Vinci's guard - Quantock perhaps looking for a knockout.
Quantock circles away from the clinch attempt.
Quantock cracks Vinci with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Quantock instigates a clinch.
Vinci jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Quantock walks away with a smile on his face. Vinci gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rod Quantock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Francis Vinci.

Quantock forces Vinci back against the cage and clinches.
Quantock keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Vinci's efforts to push away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quantock lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Quantock just leaning against Vinci, taking a breather.

Vinci manages to break the clinch.
Vinci misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vinci doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Quantock counters with a single leg into guard. Vinci didn't expect that.
Quantock seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Vinci looking for a sweep. Not yet Vinci, not yet.
Vinci keeping moving, preventing Quantock from controlling successfully.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rod Quantock.

Quantock closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A right handed body shot lands from Quantock.
Quantock lands a nice shot to the body.
Vinci looks gassed!
Nice body punch from Quantock - that landed with a thud.
Quantock lands with a right to the head.
Quantock lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Vinci backwards.
Vinci using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Quantock has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Quantock takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Quantock keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Vinci's efforts to push away.

Quantock gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Quantock seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Vinci is looking to get back to full guard here but Quantock has managed to pass to side control instead.

Quantock has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Vinci is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Quantock yanks on the arm and Vinci is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Quantock.
