PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rod Quantock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quantock comes to the cage accompanied by Meant to be funny, not an ad.. Walker has chosen Funkadelic - Super Stupid as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Walker thows a body shot but no joy.
Walker connects with a nice looking jab.
Walker misses with a left hand
and Quantock counters with a two punch combo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Quantock takes one on the button.
Walker lands a jab to the head.

Walker drops Quantock with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Quantock looks back up at him and smiles so Walker waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Quantock is looking to clinch.
Walker lands with an uppercut that bounces Quantock off the cage and back into range.
Quantock tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walker paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Quantock throws a one two combo.

It looks like Dean Walker has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Walker. Quantock does a little dance to reset his feet.
Quantock tries to close the distance and clinch up but Walker swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Walker misses with a right hand

and Quantock counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Walker tries to break free but Quantock pushes him back against the cage.

Walker is trying to break the clinch but Quantock is controlling him.

Walker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fighters circling - Walker throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Dean Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Walker tries to keep at a distance but Quantock has taken the fight into the clinch.

Walker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Walker connects with a leg kick. Quantock looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Quantock wants to clinch
and Walker counters with a head kick. That will keep Quantock thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Quantock instigates a clinch.

Walker wants to get back to striking at distance but Quantock won't allow it.
Walker prevents a body shot from Quantock.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Quantock lands a left hand that snaps the head of Walker backwards.
Quantock has Walker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Walker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Walker wants to break the clinch but can't.

Walker throws a sloppy head kick and Quantock moves out of range easily.
Walker dips to his left and cracks Quantock with an uppercut!
Quantock throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Walker throws out a loose jab but Quantock uses good head movement to avoid it.

Quantock fails in his attempt to clinch.
Quantock bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Quantock throws a left and a right that both miss
and Walker counters with an outside leg kick.
Quantock is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Walker scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Walker misses with a wild body shot.
Walker keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rod Quantock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Walker scores with a punch to the head.
Walker throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Quantock stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Quantock is breathing heavily.

Quantock tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Quantock drops his hands momentarily and Walker takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Quantock swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Walker counters with a nice right hand that sends Quantock toppling to the canvas! Quantock scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Walker finish him?!

Quantock is rocked!
Walker is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Quantock had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Walker shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Quantock takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Walker sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Quantock bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
