The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws a nice looking combination but Lapid bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cruz throws a hook but Lapid blocks it.
Cruz scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Lapid fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cruz sprawls well initially but Lapid persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Lapid is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cruz is just riding it out for now. Lapid eventually gives up the hold.

Lapid is working for a submission of some sort.
Cruz is in trouble now - Lapid has advanced to mount!
Cruz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lapid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cruz defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Lapid.

Lapid is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cruz has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Lapid is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Cruz is in real trouble.

Lapid is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Cruz knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Cruz for a finish.
