The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Arthorios takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Thomas lands a glancing blow to the side of Arthorios's head.

Thomas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Arthorios's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thomas slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thomas prevents Arthorios from escaping the position.
Arthorios takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
