Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hajime Arai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocco Ranallo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arai comes to the cage accompanied by Hilf Mir. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arai drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ranallo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Arai is one step ahead there.
Ranallo wants to get back to his feet but Arai is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ranallo being controlled here, momentarily.
Ranallo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ranallo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Arai manages to get himself to full guard.
Arai tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ranallo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Arai bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Arai tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ranallo's legs.
Arai stands up and beckons Ranallo to his feet.
Arai throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ranallo.
Arai closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ranallo did well to prevent Arai getting side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Arai is taking a breather. Ranallo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Arai stands up from half guard.
Ranallo circles away from the clinch attempt.

Arai controls the position.
Ranallo tries to improve position but can't.

Arai decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Arai closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Arai is looking to take a break and control but Ranallo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ranallo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Arai pinned against the cage. Arai gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Arai keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ranallo's head.
Arai stands up from Ranallo's guard - Arai perhaps looking for a knockout.
Arai changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ranallo tries to avoid it but Arai manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ranallo to the ground. Ranallo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ranallo is looking to improve his position but Arai isn't that keen on the idea.
BOOM! Arai connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Ranallo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ranallo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Arai controlling the pace for now.
Arai has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Ranallo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Arai is looking for the choke from the back position but Ranallo is controlling his hands well.

Arai shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Arai is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ranallo can do to turn this around?
Arai seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ranallo for as long as he can get away with.
Ranallo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ranallo wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Arai is looking to control Ranallo but Ranallo is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Ranallo trying to control the action but Arai just sinks the hooks in.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Arai is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Ranallo with him. Ranallo is trying to defend but Arai has an arm under the chin now! Ranallo grimaces and is forced to tap out!
