Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dimas Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matts Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dimas Russo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dimas Russo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matts Serra!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russo throws a right and a left that both miss.

Russo clinches up with Serra and pushes him back against the cage.

Russo lands a takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Serra lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Russo!
Russo squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Serra has hold of Russo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Russo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Serra controlling the position easily from mount.
Russo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Serra tries to control but Russo wriggling away.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Matts Serra was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Russo gets a double leg takedown into Serra's guard.
Russo is pushing down on Serra's leg trying to pass to half guard. Serra is fighting to maintain full guard but Russo has managed to sneak the leg through.
Serra blocking the ground and pound attempt from Russo.
Russo stalling away here and it's allowed Serra to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Serra has his foot on Russo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Russo works his way back into a safe position though.

Serra looking for a sweep. Not yet Serra, not yet.
Serra looking to control.
Russo trying to control the position from guard on top but Serra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Serra is trying to control the position but Russo postures up.
Serra manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Serra is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Russo is surviving well by controlling Serra's body position as best he can.
Serra trying to control but Russo is having none of it.
Russo wants to hold on but Serra pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Russo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Serra trying to control but Russo is having none of it.

Serra working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Serra can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Russo is looking to escape.

Serra swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Russo is now in Serra's guard. A big mistake from Serra there, giving up the dominant position!
Russo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Serra pulls Russo in close to prevent any damage.
Serra working a defensive guard but Russo passes into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Serra tries to get to full guard but Russo has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matts Serra will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Russo closes the distance and pushes Serra back into the cage.
Serra controlling the action here for a moment.

Russo manages to break the clinch.

Russo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Serra to the mat! Serra manages to get full guard.
Russo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Russo stands up from Serra's guard - Russo perhaps looking for a knockout.

Russo throws a front kick that sends Serra stumbling back into the cage.
Serra tries to clinch there but Russo circles away.
Serra misses with a hook.

Russo has closed the distance and engaged Serra in a clinch.
Serra leaning his opponent against the cage.
Serra scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Serra is fighting off a takedown attempt but Russo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Serra to the mat. Serra regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Serra looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Russo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Russo is pressing down on Serra's thigh, looking to free his foot. Serra is holding on for now.
Serra wants to improve his position but Russo is controlling well.
Serra is pressing down on Russo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Russo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Russo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Serra is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Serra wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Serra throws his legs up looking for a submission but Russo uses it to pass to side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Russo postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Serra is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Serra sneaks back into half guard.
Russo moves into full mount! Serra won't be happy about that!

Serra tries to hold on but Russo pushes him away.
Serra is working to get back to half guard.
Russo landing shots from mount.
Serra is wriggling around trying to escape.
Russo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Serra can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Serra is trying desperately to improve position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Serra tries to hold on but Russo postures up.
Serra tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dimas Russo dominated that second round.
That's time! Russo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Russo throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Russo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Serra is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Russo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Serra's guard.
Russo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Serra is proving hard to escape from.
Serra keeping moving, preventing Russo from controlling successfully.
Russo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Serra bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Russo's guard.

Serra drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Russo dives on top into guard.

Russo passes into half guard.

Serra is defending against the submission attempts here by Russo.
Dimas Russo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Serra makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Serra.
Serra lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Russo!

Serra has control of Russo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Russo regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Serra working for a guillotine from mount but Russo is in no mood to give up.

Russo somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Russo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Serra keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Dimas Russo has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Russo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Serra swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Serra manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Serra is trying to take his opponent's back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dimas Russo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Russo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
