PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mao Zedong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barrack Obama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Obama has chosen USA!USA!USA! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be fireworks!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obama takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Zedong lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Obama backs up against the cage.
Obama throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zedong's waist but Zedong gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Obama off to one side.
Zedong throws a head kick that misses.
Obama changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zedong tries to avoid it but Obama manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zedong to the ground. Zedong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Obama drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Obama jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Obama postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Zedong is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Obama, into his guard.

Obama has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Zedong is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Obama.

Obama is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zedong is just riding it out for now. Obama eventually gives up the hold.

Obama is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Zedong doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Obama.

Zedong kicks Obama off and gets back to his feet.
Obama walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Zedong throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Obama on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Obama drops back looking for a leg! Zedong is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zedong manages to kick Obama off! Obama jumps back into Zedong's guard.
Zedong wants to get back to his feet but Obama is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Obama drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Zedong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Obama has Zedong in his guard.

Zedong wants to get up but he can't break Obama's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Obama had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Zedong defends it easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mao Zedong will probably get the nod.
