Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marlo Stein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marlo Stein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Boxer!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Boxer thows a body shot but no joy.

Stein shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Boxer is staying active underneath Stein, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boxer regains full guard. Nicely done.
Stein pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Boxer is keeping the position for now.
Boxer wants to stand but Stein is controlling the position.

Boxer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stein is aware though and is defending well.
Stein wants to control from the top but Boxer keeps moving.
Stein prevents Boxer from getting back to his feet.

Stein drops back looking for a leg! Boxer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Boxer manages to kick Stein off! Stein jumps back into Boxer's guard.

Boxer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Boxer wants to get back to his feet.
Stein is trying to control. Boxer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Stein has his takedown stuffed
and Boxer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Boxer misses the shot to the body.
Boxer takes a swing at Stein's ribcage but misses.

A looping hook to the body misses from Boxer. Stein does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stein thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Boxer if he has to take too many more of those.
Tommy Boxer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Stein shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The fighters circling - Boxer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Stein shoots in for a double leg but Boxer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Stein tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boxer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Boxer misses with a wild combination.

Stein looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boxer looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boxer manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A lazy body kick from Boxer

Stein throws a good cross that connects.

Stein tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Boxer smiles and moves away.

Stein keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Boxer's efforts to push away.

Stein using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Stein pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Stein clinches up with Boxer and pushes him back against the cage.
Boxer wants to get back to striking at distance but Stein won't allow it.

Stein gets control of Boxer's arms and successfully pulls guard. Stein will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Stein lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Boxer!
Boxer is trying desperately to improve position.
Boxer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Boxer has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Stein knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boxer on the ground.

Stein keeps control of the position easily here as Boxer tries to buck him off.
Boxer rolls, trying to escape but Stein keeps control of the position.
Stein is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Stein's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Boxer wants to get back to his feet.
Stein doesn't have the hooks in and Boxer manages to turn into his guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Boxer gets to his feet - Stein follows without any prompting.
Stein misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stein takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Boxer thows a leg kick but Stein checks it

and Stein counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stein.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boxer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Stein slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Boxer is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Stein wants to lay and pray for a moment but Boxer keeps working.
Boxer pushes Stein off looking to stand but Stein dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are battling for position here. Boxer manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Boxer wants to stand but Stein is controlling the position.
Stein wants to control from the top but Boxer keeps moving.
Stein slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Boxer wants to sweep here but Stein controlling him for the moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Marlo Stein.

and Boxer counters with a stiff right hand.
Boxer throws a lazy right hand but Stein sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Boxer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Stein, up you get!

Stein goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Boxer stuffs the takedown.

Boxer sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Boxer tries to kick Stein off but Stein keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Stein is taking a breather. Boxer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Boxer won't allow Stein to pass to mount.

We're going to have a standup here because Marlo Stein wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Stein tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boxer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Stein closes the distance and clinches.
With the fighters up against the cage, Boxer throws an elbow but misses.
Marlo Stein is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marlo Stein.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stein, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
