Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Belcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocco Ranallo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Belcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rocco Ranallo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ranallo wants to clinch

and Belcher counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ranallo's guard now.
Belcher controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ranallo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ranallo throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Ranallo keeping moving, preventing Belcher from controlling successfully.
Belcher might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Michael Belcher wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Belcher changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ranallo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Belcher content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

You can see the frustration on Ranallo's face as Belcher controls the position.

Belcher thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Belcher lands a decent elbow from side control.
Belcher scores with a couple of short elbows.
Belcher happy to just control the position for now.
Ranallo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Belcher wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Ranallo is trying to escape the position but Belcher is controlling the position.

Belcher stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Ranallo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ranallo avoids the body shot from Belcher.

Belcher shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ranallo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Belcher keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ranallo's head.

Belcher decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Belcher tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ranallo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Belcher shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ranallo is trying to defend but Belcher finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Belcher wants to free his trapped foot but Ranallo is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Belcher stands up out of the half guard.

Belcher shoots in looking for a takedown but Ranallo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Belcher's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Belcher seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Belcher shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ranallo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Belcher drops back looking for a leg! Ranallo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ranallo manages to kick Belcher off! Belcher jumps back into Ranallo's guard.

Ranallo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Belcher is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ranallo.

Belcher tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Belcher has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Michael Belcher overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Belcher advances to mount.
Ranallo is breathing heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Belcher fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Belcher is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ranallo can do to turn this around?
Belcher takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Belcher is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ranallo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Belcher is working for a guillotine from mount but Ranallo frees his head quite easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Belcher takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Ranallo seems to have recovered his senses.
Ranallo wants to hold on but Belcher pushes him away.
Belcher lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Belcher stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Belcher tries to clinch there but Ranallo circles away.

Belcher shoots in and gets a takedown into Ranallo's guard.

Belcher sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ranallo's guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Belcher stands up and beckons Ranallo to join him on the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Belcher gets the takedown into side control.
Belcher cracks Ranallo with a big right hand but Ranallo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Belcher decides to stand back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Belcher looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Belcher fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Belcher wants to clinch up but Ranallo keeps it at a distance.
Ranallo tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Belcher tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ranallo swivels and escapes.

Belcher looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ranallo!
Ranallo tries to control Belcher's body but Belcher pushes him off. Ranallo squirms to his side and now Belcher has his back!

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Belcher is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Ranallo defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Belcher.

Belcher is persistently looking for the submission but Ranallo is defending it well.

Ranallo wants to get back to his feet.

What can Ranallo do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Belcher has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well Belcher has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
