The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mela uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barrett.

Mela scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Mela tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Barrett is trying to get back to half guard.
Barrett takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Barrett tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Barrett is looking to reverse the position.

Mela tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mela has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mela tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Mela scores with a couple of short elbows.
Barrett is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mela cracks Barrett with a big right hand but Barrett just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Mela has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Barrett is in a horrible position here. Mela smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Barrett tries to reverse the position but Mela maintains control.
Barrett sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Barrett is looking to improve his position.
Mela tries to pass to full mount but Barrett defends it.

Mela is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Barrett is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
