PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kento Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Wambolt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nathan Wambolt was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kento Russo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Wambolt!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russo scores with a decent looking hook.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Wambolt has eaten all the pies!
Russo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Russo.


Wambolt is rocked!

Russo gets a takedown into half guard.
Wambolt is still in real trouble! Can Russo finish him?

Russo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Russo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wambolt defends it well.

Russo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Russo passes to full mount!
Russo wants to control the pace but Wambolt is squirming around nicely.

Russo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Russo is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Russo stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Wambolt seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wambolt keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Wambolt shoots and misses
and Russo counters with a three punch combo that has Wambolt backing up. Wambolt nods at Russo to acknowledge the strikes.
Russo lands a two punch combo.
Wambolt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Russo swivels and escapes.
Nice sprawl there from Russo as Wambolt shoots in.
Kento Russo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Wambolt.

Russo moves into range and clinches up with Wambolt.
Russo blocks an uppercut.
Wambolt doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Wambolt jumps into guard, dragging Russo to the mat.

Wambolt has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Russo doesn't defend quickly enough and Wambolt has managed to lock this one up! Can Russo escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Wambolt on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nathan Wambolt!
