Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darragh McCardle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Salek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCardle's entrance music is Labrinth - Earthquake ft. Tinie Tempah. A fine choice. Rob Salek has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Darragh McCardle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 28 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Salek!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCardle clinches up with Salek and pushes him back against the cage.
McCardle is looking to break free of the clinch but Salek has double underhooks.
McCardle jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Salek walks away with a smile on his face. McCardle gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
McCardle shoots in looking for a takedown but Salek manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McCardle's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
McCardle shoots in for a double leg but Salek sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darragh McCardle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McCardle gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
McCardle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McCardle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Salek pulls him back up using the underhooks.

McCardle's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fight stays on the outside here - Salek looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Salek pivots, looking for a leg kick but McCardle is out of range and Salek settles back down.

Rob Salek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McCardle shoots in and drives through. Salek sprawls well.

Salek tries to clinch up but McCardle circles away and keeps his distance.

McCardle has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Salek avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Salek ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McCardle moves away.

McCardle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Salek tries to close the distance and clinch up but McCardle swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McCardle scores with a head kick. Salek tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

McCardle pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

McCardle shoots in looking for a takedown. Salek tries to sprawl out of it but McCardle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Salek manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Salek throws a front kick aimed at McCardle's knee but McCardle avoids it well.
Salek misses with a looping left.

McCardle gets caught flat footed, as Salek shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Salek won't allow McCardle to sweep him here.
Salek must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McCardle looking for a guillotine here but Salek defends easily.

McCardle is looking for a triangle but Salek pushes his legs off easily.
McCardle is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That was a close second round but I would say that Darragh McCardle will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

McCardle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Salek as he avoids it easily.

McCardle wants to clinch up but Salek keeps it at a distance.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. McCardle obliges.
Salek is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Salek gets a trip takedown into half guard.

McCardle holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Salek seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Salek takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McCardle has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Salek is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCardle is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Salek's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Salek's back!

McCardle is riding his opponent, not letting Salek buck him off.

McCardle somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

McCardle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

McCardle is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Salek is defending well though. McCardle let's go of the attempt for now.
I would not like to be Salek right now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
