The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mela's waist but Mela gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.
Johnson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mela lands a jab to the nose.
Johnson tests Mela's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Johnson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mela manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Johnson gets a takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mela is looking to improve his position.
Johnson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but Mela is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mela's head.
Mela is staying active underneath Johnson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mela looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mela is pulling down on Johnson's head. It's preventing any offense from Johnson, at least for the moment.
Mela has a closed guard, preventing Johnson from standing up.
Johnson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson wants to stand and escape but instead Mela has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Mela trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mela feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Johnsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Jokke Mela seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mela throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Johnson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Mela shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mela works over Johnson's head and body with a nice combination.
Mela ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Mela avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mela lands a slapping body shot.

Johnson's corner calls for a 1-2. Johnson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Mela is trying hard to land a takedown here. Johnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Johnson misses with a series of wild punches.

Mela just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Mela shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That was a close round but I would say that Jokke Mela will probably get the nod.

Jack Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mela shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Johnson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Johnson wants to sweep here but Mela controlling him for the moment.

Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mela's guard.

Mela is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mela working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Mela is tightening it up a little... Johnson has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Johnson reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Johnson taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mela!
