Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Danny Mera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Hosnia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mera's entrance music is The Automatic - Monster. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Danny Mera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Richard Hosnia!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hosnia feints and then cracks Mera's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mera down.
Nice body punch from Mera.
Danny Mera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Mera or perhaps it was just good defense by Hosnia which made him look bad.
Hosnia thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Mera if he has to take too many more of those.
Hosnia circles away from the clinch attempt.
A jab from Mera does it's job there.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mera looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hosnia walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Mera scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hosnia throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
That kick from Hosnia tenderised Mera's leg. Mera is trying to keep his angry face on.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mera looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mera has Hosnia up against the cage in a clinch.
Hosnia wants to break free but Mera has control.

Hosnia breaks the clinch.
Mera throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mera throws the kick towards the body but Hosnia avoids it.
Mera fails with an attempt to clinch.

Mera closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hosnia lands an elbow that stopped Mera in his tracks for a moment.

Hosnia breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mera tries to land a leg kick but Hosnia saw it coming and moves away.
Mera throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hosnia.
Mera shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hosnia pinned against the cage. Hosnia gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice defenses there by Hosnia.
Mera misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Hosnia counters with a nice body kick.
Hosnia lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mera will feel that in the morning.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hosnia thows a body kick. Mera tries to catch it but that hurt him.
A head kick misses from Hosnia.
Mera tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hosnia was well out of range. Poor timing from Mera.
Mera throws a shot from downtown. Hosnia moves away and avoids it.
Mera lands a nice hook to Hosnia's body. Hosnia takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Hosnia throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Mera is breathing heavily.
Mera misses with a looping right.
Hosnia misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mera is looking to clinch but Hosnia is avoiding it.
A chopping leg kick lands by Hosnia.
Hosnia chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Hosnia is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mera throws a shot from downtown. Hosnia moves away and avoids it.
Mera misses with a low kick.
Mera will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Mera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Hosnia. No joy for Mera on that attempt.
Mera tries to close the distance and clinch but Hosnia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hosnia uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mera.
Mera misses with a wild body shot.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hosnia.
Mera doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hosnia counters with a body kick that stops Mera in his tracks momentarily.

Hosnia finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Mera has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hosnia.
Mera tries to land a body kick
and Hosnia counters with a solid body kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hosnia scores with a head kick. Mera tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Mera. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Hosnia stuffs the takedown.
Mera fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hosnia turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Mera will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Hosnia throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mera takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Mera tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hosnia was well out of range. Poor timing from Mera.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hosnia lands a head kick!
Nice uppercut there from Mera.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Hosnia dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mera throws a leg kick but Hosnia sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Hosnia. No joy for Mera on that attempt.
Richard Hosnia seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hosnia takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Mera throws a sloppy head kick
and Hosnia makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Mera fails with the takedown
and Hosnia counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Mera is lucky that one didn't land flush.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hosnia.
Mera is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Hosnia displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mera.

Mera throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hosnia tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mera is in Hosnia's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mera has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hosnia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mera manages to get himself to full guard.
Hosnia wants to control from the top but Mera keeps moving.
Hosnia tries to free his leg and advance position but Mera is retaining full guard.

Mera throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hosnia sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Mera closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Hosnia wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mera doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hosnia blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hosnia can't break the clinch.
Mera is trying to maintain a safe position but Hosnia gets an underhook and turns Mera into the cage.
Mera lands an elbow that stopped Hosnia in his tracks for a moment.
Mera prevents Hosnia from breaking the clinch.
Hosnia gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mera.
Hosnia tries to break free but Mera pushes him back against the cage.

Mera misses with an elbow over the top.

Hosnia's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hosnia tries a head kick but it misses.
Mera is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hosnia sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mera tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hosnia swivels and escapes.

Hosnia gets tackled into the cage by Mera. Mera maintains the clinch.
Hosnia is working for takedown but Mera is calmly controlling the position for now.
Mera is trying to drag Hosnia to the mat but Hosnia just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Hosnia wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mera prevents Hosnia from breaking the clinch.
Hosnia is looking to break free of the clinch but Mera has double underhooks.

Hosnia pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hosnia avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mera fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mera fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hosnia tries to score with a low kick but Mera moves his leg out of the way.
Mera tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hosnia manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hosnia steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mera.

Mera takes the fight into the clinch.
Mera tries to throw a body punch but Hosnia avoids it by throwing Mera back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mera misses with a punch on the inside.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hosnia escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mera misses with a jab, cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Mera will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Hosnia takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Hosnia throws a nice outside leg kick.

Mera shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hosnia wants to hold on but Mera pushes him away.
The referee warns Hosnia that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Hosnia is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mera lands a big elbow.
Mera looking to finish with strikes here!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hosnia regains half guard.
Mera not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hosnia trying to control from the bottom.

Mera wants to take a breather but Hosnia is having none of it.
Mera looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Hosnia looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Mera is working for a kimura but Hosnia is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hosnia blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mera.
Hosnia makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hosnia.

Hosnia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hosnia is tightening it up a little... Mera has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mera reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mera taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hosnia!
