PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Kain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abe Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dylan Kain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Abe Stone!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kain looks for a takedown but Stone sprawls well.
Kain throws a sloppy head kick and Stone moves out of range easily.
Kain tries a head kick but it misses.
Horrible takedown by Kain or perhaps it was just good defense by Stone which made him look bad.
Stone keeps the fight on the outside.
Kain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kain throws a body punch but Stone moves out of range.

Stone closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stone lands in his opponent's guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Stone wants to pass the guard but Kain is keeping the position.
Stone throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kain might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stone is in close to Kain's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Kain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kain keeping moving, preventing Stone from controlling successfully.
Stone is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Stone wants to control from the top but Kain keeps moving.

Kain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stone doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stone manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Stone stands and throws Kain's legs to the side, diving into side control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stone is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kain has escaped the position, nice work there.
Stone tries to move to mount but Kain blocks the move with his legs.

Stone lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kain down.

Stone goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kain has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Stone but great work by Kain.

Kain is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Stone is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kain tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kain has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Stone is looking to regain half guard here but Kain keeps moving and retains side control.

Kain working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kain is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stone knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stone keeps working.
Stone wants to control but Kain postures up.
Stone manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Stone is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kain tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Kain is looking for a sweep. Stone is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Stone is working for a submission of some sort.

Stone is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abe Stone dominated that round.

Kain moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Kain lands a nice looking body kick.
Some wild striking there from Kain.
Kain doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Stone counters with a single leg into guard. Kain didn't expect that.
Kain looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stone is one step ahead there.

Kain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Stone tries to free his leg and advance position but Kain is retaining full guard.
Stone is in close to Kain's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Stone trying to control the position from guard on top but Kain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stone lands a couple of elbows.
Stone lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Stone trying to control but Kain is working from the bottom.

Kain has momentary wrist control but Stone slips an elbow through the middle.
Kain is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stone is controlling him.
Stone lands a couple of digs.
Stone with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stone is looking to work some ground and pound but Kain has wrist control.
Stone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stone is breathing heavily.
Stone working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kain's head.
Kain preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Stone trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Stone is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kain is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kain has escaped and now he's on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kain drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kain jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Stone is looking for a triangle but Kain pushes his legs off easily.
Kain trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kain manages to get himself to full guard.
Stone is looking to work some ground and pound but Kain has wrist control.
Kain is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Stone makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Kain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Stone loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kain can't keep his opponent in guard - Stone advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stone working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Stone seems to be working for a kimura but Kain defends the submission attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kain is refusing to be controlled, as Stone sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abe Stone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Kain throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stone.
Stone walks into a stiff left hand from Kain.
Nice sprawl there from Stone as Kain shoots in.
Kain is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kain is looking to clinch but Stone is avoiding it.

Stone takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Stone displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kain.
Stone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kain's waist but Kain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stone off to one side.
Kain works the jab nicely.
Kain wants to clinch

and Stone counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kain won't be happy with that.
Stone takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Stone works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Kain is trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kain gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Stone is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kain is surviving well by controlling Stone's body position as best he can.
Stone looking to control but Kain is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Stone scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Kain?
Kain is working to get back to half guard.
Stone avoids the attempt from Kain to control.

Stone goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kain is on top in guard.

Kain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Abe Stone has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stone has control of Kain's left arm, preventing Kain from doing any damage.
Stone keeping moving, preventing Kain from controlling successfully.

Stone has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Stone bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kain's guard.

Stone has gone for a leg lock! Kain slips out almost immediately though and dives into Stone's guard.
Kain trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stone tries to strike from the bottom.

Kain drops back looking for a leg! Stone is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stone manages to kick Kain off! Kain jumps back into Stone's guard.

Stone looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dylan Kain has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kain is aware though and is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abe Stone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Stone winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
