The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahama shoots in for a takedown but Pain shows good takedown defense.
Pain fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mahama closes the distance and clinches up with Pain, looking for a takedown. Mahama pushes Pain against the cage but Pain circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Mahama throws a nice looking combination but Pain bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Pain is working for takedown but Mahama is calmly controlling the position for now.
Pain stops a takedown attempt from Mahama.

Pain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mahama. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pain seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
