PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sami Sivupotku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scyld Scyfling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sivupotku might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Guns N' Roses - It's So Easy. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Sivupotku or perhaps it was just good defense by Scyfling which made him look bad.
Sivupotku has a takedown stuffed.
Scyfling lands a slapping body shot.
Scyfling lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sivupotku backs up against the cage.
Scyfling throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sivupotku.
Scyfling displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Sivupotku tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Scyfling will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A choreographed right hand from Scyfling misses the target.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sivupotku is breathing heavily.

Scyfling stands up and beckons Sivupotku to join him on the feet.
Scyfling misses with the combination.
The fighters circling - Scyfling throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Sivupotku tries to clinch up.
Scyfling tests Sivupotku's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Scyld Scyfling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sivupotku wants to clinch up but Scyfling keeps it at a distance.
Sivupotku is looking to clinch but Scyfling is avoiding it.

Scyfling rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sivupotku moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Scyfling counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Scyfling drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Sivupotku tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Scyfling wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Scyfling scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Sivupotku to see if he's OK.

Scyfling wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sivupotku, who protects the arm well.
Sivupotku is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Scyfling is controlling him well.
Scyfling misses with the ground and pound.

Scyfling wants to control but Sivupotku is keeping him busy.

Scyfling is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Scyfling accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sivupotku is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Sivupotku working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Scyfling doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Scyfling manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Scyfling is pushing down on Sivupotku's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sivupotku is fighting to maintain full guard but Scyfling has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scyfling is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Scyfling is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Sivupotku is refusing to be controlled, as Scyfling sits in half guard.

Scyfling lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Sivupotku is defending against the submission attempts here by Scyfling.
Scyfling passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sivupotku!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Scyfling cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Scyfling pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Scyfling is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Scyfling extends the arm and Sivupotku is forced to tap!
