Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luca Blight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bret Hicken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blight comes into the arena with Suikoden II - The Chase blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bret Hicken!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blight circles away from the clinch attempt
and Blight counters with an outside leg kick.
Blight motions for Hicken to come forward. Blight throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Blight is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hicken takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hicken thows a left - swing and a miss!
Hicken punishes Blight's body with a nice straight punch.
Blight throws a big shot that misses.
Blight misses with a body kick.
Blight misses with a leg kick.
Hicken misses with a two punch combination.
Hicken throws a body punch but Blight moves out of range.
Hicken takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Hicken connects with a right hand. Blight shakes it off.
Hicken tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Blight was well out of range. Poor timing from Hicken.

Blight moves into the clinch.
Hicken misses with some punches.
Hicken digs a right hand underneath Blight's ribcage. Blight let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Blight goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hicken prevents it.
Hicken content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Blight has Hicken pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Blight pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hicken tumbling to the mat - Blight dives into Hicken's guard.

Blight slips nicely into half guard.

Blight content to control rather than advance.
Hicken is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hicken trying to control but Blight postures up.
Hicken really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blight. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Blight slows the pace down in half guard.
Blight moves into full mount! Hicken won't be happy about that!

Blight looking to control and managing it successfully.
Hicken is trying to escape the mount.
Hicken tries to lock up and control but Blight gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hicken is trying to escape the mount.
Blight wants to control the pace but Hicken is squirming around nicely.
Hicken is wriggling around trying to escape.
Blight looking to control but Hicken is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hicken is in a horrible position here. Blight smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hicken tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hicken throws a right and a left that Blight avoids nicely.
Blight tries to score with a low kick but Hicken moves his leg out of the way.

Blight lands with a nice body kick.
Blight looks to score with a jab to the body but Hicken is just out of range.

Blight drives through and clinches with Hicken against the cage.
Hicken blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hicken lands with a light punch inside.
Hicken struggles to land a body shot inside as Blight controls his hands.
Hicken is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Hicken throws a head punch that misses.

Blight breaks from the clinch.
Blight throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Hicken ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blight moves away.
Some bone on bone action there as Hicken checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Hicken misses with a straight left.
Blight lands a lovely overhand right.
Blight looks to score with a jab to the body but Hicken is just out of range.
Blight looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hicken looks to throw the jab but Blight is out of range.
Luca Blight is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sloppy strikes from Hicken. Those never looked like landing.
Blight lands with a kick to the ribs.
Hicken is breathing heavily.
A thudding body kick lands there by Blight!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blight feints and then cracks Hicken's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hicken down.

Hicken gets a double leg takedown into Blight's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blight lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hicken!
Blight takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Blight is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hicken can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Luca Blight overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

It looks like Bret Hicken has been cut.
Hicken is desperately trying to improve his position but Blight has a good base and remains in mount.

A big strike lands for Blight! That's really hurt Hicken and he's turned his back - Blight keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Blight jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
